Peter Hunt

Peter has worked in consulting since 1998. Over the years, he has garnered the reputation of “knowing everyone” in the Minnesota Oracle consulting market. He has worked with most of the companies in the state who run Oracle’s E-Business Suite. Peter’s ability to leverage this network is what sets him apart from his peers. It allows him to match consultants with clients not only from a technical and skills perspective, but also taking into account company cultures, management styles, work styles and personalities.

How We Met

Tammie Berghuis and Peter Hunt first met in 2002 while Tammie was working at Valspar Corporation. She was tasked with upgrading the company’s Oracle application from version 10.7 to 11i. The initial 10.7 implementation of Oracle took many years to complete and was very expensive to maintain because they used a large integrator who provided the business with all functionality requested, even if it was not supported by the Oracle suite.

In order to avoid this costly approach, Tammie convinced the business that they would need to take a “no-customization” approach. Tammie was introduced to Peter because of his reputation of being able to find the best local resources and match their skills and personalities with business needs. Tammie hired Peter to assist in staffing this large undertaking using local consultants. Peter assembled a team of 13 experienced consultants to provide functional and technical expertise to the internal Valspar team. The first business was successfully implemented on Oracle’s 11i application base in a six-month period and was within budget, scope and schedule.

OK, so that’s the story. In the hands of a good director and some on-screen talent, it could make nice little tech-drama (without the helicopter-chasing-the-train through-the-tunnel-scene).
